How's it possible? SD leads division at .495, and SF only 5-1/2 back
Rueter, who wants to start or be traded, can't get out of the 4th (gives up 5 runs after 2 out), but SF comes back -- probably for first time all year -- with 5 runs in 8th to bail him out; SF shares "best record" in NL Worst since June 1 (21-30), while LA goes 20-31, AZ 20-32, and SD 18-32; SD first team under .500 to lead division this late in season since Texas Rangers were 52-62 on 8/11/94, last day before strike ended that season (- SJ Mercury News) .
7-5 win at MIL | 45-57
